So hi guys, it is that time again, yes, from the title you already know what this is about. Hyperion Teens once again held a design contest, and this time it was for Dan Krokos’ False Memory. I went for a more contemporary style to Dan’s False Memory. 🙂 I kept the main fonts in the style of sci-fi to reflect the book (which is widely considered to be a YA sci-fi novel). I hope this almost “false” genre twist can display the dystopian, and mystery undertones of the book, showing that things are not always what it appears to be. Furthermore I hope that by creating a contemporary cover, it will also demonstrate to the audience that there is romance in the novel. I really hope you guys enjoy this. It was an absolute pleasure to make. 🙂
And sadly, I haven’t read the book. *hits self and whispers* I am embarrassed to say that. So the design was based off an excerpt. I hope you guys enjoy it. 🙂
You can vote daily so if you like an entry, vote for them. I will leave you guys a link to all of the entries so you can see what the others had made. Dan Krokos Design Finalists.
EPIC HALLOWEEN COSTUME SHOW DOWN!
Do you love Halloween? Do you love to dress up? Do you have an epic costume that you want to share? And DO YOU LOVE ARCS?! Got a Twitter account or can steal a friend's twitter account?
Well the AWESOME Lacey Dearie, the author of The Tangled Web kindly donated 5 ARCs of The Tangled Web for this
Here is what Tangled Web is about:
Have you ever wondered who that weirdo with the fake profile on Facebook is, and what they're up to?
Meet Vicky: Single mother, aspiring novelist, undertaker….and glamorous, seductive private investigator. She and trainee plumber Flic, forge the perfect partnership. They trap cheaters, report back to the wives and girlfriends, rake in the cash and then Vicky blogs about it all. The best thing about their job is it’s all done online, so it won’t interfere with their real lives and relationships.
Well, that was the plan.
What they didn’t count on was their first investigation being turned around on them so that they were the ones being investigated and written about – in a national newspaper. Soon, their loved ones want a piece of their secret lives and they discover that Vicky’s family are less than helpful as sidekicks. Her goofy brother Adam discovers the real reason why Flic wants justice for women virtually scorned and invites the woman who destroyed Flic’s happiness five years ago to become a client, with catastrophic consequences for all involved in the business, while Vicky’s gobby sister Pamela is given a fake assignment to trap Christos, Vicky’s confidante, to keep her out of the way and makes an unsavoury discovery about him in the process.
It very quickly becomes apparent that they’ve become trapped in a web of lies from which they can’t escape…

Big Hint for Big Contest
So few months ago, I introduced this amazing contest on my blog. And now the contest is nearing the end. It is time to have the final conclusion and get those entries in. AD had kindly offered some big hints for the contest. Shall I refresh your memory on the contest first?
The second way is to write a 100 words “story” (not really story since it doesn’t have to end) to the following prompt. Make it as thrilling as possible! And email me your entry with the subject line “Writing Entry (YOUR NAME)” to catchingashootingstar(AT)hotmail(DOT)ca. And once again, you can send in more than one entry, just email me. 🙂
Prompt:
The third way is a photo contest! So here is what you have to do: send pictures of the actors/actresses who would best portray Lucas, Anna, and Reid. Need a little help? Read the excerpt or the extended excerpt above. 🙂 Sent your picutre(s) with the subject line “Photo Entry (YOUR NAME)” to catchingashootingstar(AT)hotmail(DOT)ca. If you are having trouble sending your photos, upload the pictures somewhere and sent me a link to the photos via my email. If that doesn’t work, tweet me the photos/links or facebook me. And with this one too, you can send in multiple entries. 🙂
Win Big with the Blind Spot Contest, Hosted by Laura Ellen
Seventeen-year-old Tricia Farni’s body floated to the surface of Alaska’s Birch River six months after the night she disappeared. The night Roz Hart had a fight with her. The night Roz can’t remember. Roz, who struggles with macular degeneration, is used to assembling fragments to make sense of the world around her. But this time it’s her memory that needs piecing together—to clear her name . . . to find a murderer.
This unflinchingly emotional novel is written in the powerful first-person voice of a legally blind teen who just wants to be like everyone else.
The trailer for Blind Spot was produced by Vania Stoyanova at VLC Productions. Laura Ellen's 14-year-old son James composed and performed the music for the trailer with Steve 'Oz' Osburn. It was recorded in Muruga Booker's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muruga_Booker Sage Court Studios.
What’s Your ‘Blind Spot’? Contest:
In Blind Spot, Roz has a visual impairment that makes her feel insecure. As a result, she becomes so obsessed with proving she is 'normal' that she loses sight of everything else– including clues to a murder.
Interview♥Excerpt♥Epic CONTEST with the AWESOME AD Starrling, Author of Soul Meaning
‘My name is Lucas Soul.
Today, I died again.
This is my fifteenth death in the last four hundred and fifty years.’
The Crovirs and the Bastians. Two races of immortals who have lived side by side with humans for millennia and been engaged in a bloody war since the very dawn of their existence. With the capacity to survive up to sixteen deaths, it was not until the late fourteenth century that they reached an uneasy truce, following a deadly plague that wiped out more than half of their numbers and made the majority of survivors infertile.
Soul is an outcast of both immortal societies. Born of a Bastian mother and a Crovir father, a half breed whose very existence is abhorred by the two races, he spends the first three hundred and fifty years of his life being chased and killed by the Hunters.
One fall night in Boston, the Hunt starts again, resulting in Soul’s fifteenth death and triggering a chain of events that sends him on the run with Reid Hasley, a former US Marine and his human business partner of ten years. When a lead takes them to Washington DC and a biotechnology company with affiliations to the Crovirs, they cross the Atlantic to Europe, on the trail of a French scientist whose research seems intrinsically linked to the reason why the Hunters are after Soul again.
From Paris to Prague, their search for answers will lead them deep into the immortal societies and bring them face to face with someone from Soul’s past. Shocking secrets are uncovered and fresh allies come to the fore as they attempt to put a stop to a new and terrifying threat to both immortals and humans.
Time is running out for Soul. Can he get to the truth before his seventeenth death, protect the ones he loves and prevent another immortal war?
